City of Scotts Valley Tree lighting celebration, Preparation for this event in December includes club tree decoration, arranging for drinks and food. All proceeds will benefit Valley Churches United food, clothes, toy distribution in December.

Project 6 - Cabrillo College Childrens Center
Taught Children at Cabrillo College Children's Center about ongoing Kiwanis club highway cleanup project and cleaning up public property in general. They watched DVD of highway cleanup, used our equipment including vests, safety helmets, bags, and picker uppers to cleanup Cabrillo College Campus. A very positive experience for all.

Project 9 - Scotts Valley Holiday Light Festival
Annual SV holiday light festival, decorated Christmas tree which was raffled of, baked goods which were sold, did carriage rides. All proceeds from activities went to Valley Churches United which supported needy families of San Lorenzo Valley and Scotts Valley.

Project 17 - Club Roundup
An ongoing monthly service project, a club member compiles information about current service projects including upcoming events from all the local service clubs in the Scotts Valley and San Lorenzo areas. This includes writing the column and submitting it to the local newspaper for print. This allows local citizens to know what the local service clubs are doing for their community.

2 members including a school board official participated in annual community review which enabled the school board to better define requirements of the community.

Project 20 - Mt Charlie Bike Ride
Participated in helping the Scotts Valley Education Foundation put on a bicycle event which raised approximately $25,000 for their non-profit organization. These funds are distributed to the school district for various projects

Participated in Kiwanis One Day by performing a service project at the Second Harvest Food Bank in Watsonville, Ca. We stapled donation cards to grocery bags which were then to be distributed with the U.S. Postal Service to the community.

Project 29 - 4th of July Fireworks festival
Participated in annual 4th of July Scotts Valley Fireworks festival. Set up portable stage, ran carnival like games. 3000 city residents people participated in festival. Used 3 boy scouts and key club members from Gunderson High and SLV High for setup, running games and takedown after event was over. THis event couldn't have happened without the Key club or boy scout support.

Repainted General Purpose room at Scotts Valley High School. This project required preparation, taping and painting which took 1 member 56 hours of volunteer time plus the help of 5 other members for a total of 81 hours.

We have 2 members which assisted key clubs at the beginning of the school year. Scotts Valley high needed the more hours in starting/reviving the key club this school year than the San Lorenzo high did. San Lorenzo high Key club has been in operation many years and has been well supported on a continual basis by our Kiwanis Club
